FY2016 – $1,619,782

Funding Impact

  • Prior to having inhouse MRI this service was provided with Mobile MRI offered two days a week.
  • MRI services are now available Monday through Friday and occasional weekends, for scheduled exams and emergency diagnostics imaging.
  • Expanded orthopedic MRI diagnostic and more complex imaging, reducing the need for patients traveling to Treasure Valley for care.
  • 61 percent increase in patient exams from FY17 to FY22.
  • Demand for MRI services continues to grow.

Patient Care Impact

  • A patient in the emergency department presented with stroke symptoms. The stroke was not identified on CT exam. The patient was rushed to have an MRI exam, which revealed the patient had a stroke. Proper treatment was implemented and resulted in a positive outcome for the patient.
  • Patient from the emergency department presented with severe pain and was unable to walk. A spinal cord lesion was identified from an MRI exam. Patient was then air transferred to Boise for emergent surgery.
  • Many patients regularly express they are grateful and thankful that they do not have to travel to the Treasure Valley for MRI exams, especially in bad weather.
  • Patients have shared they feel our MRI is much larger and quieter than mobile units leading to less discomfort, and they are less likely to feel claustrophobic.
